For every one of us, the Horoscope is determined by sign of the Zodiac which was rising at the moment of our birth and this determines a group of common and recurring characters and aspects.

The word HOROSKOP (oroskopos) or Oroscopo comes from the Greek words “ORA” (time, season) and “SKOPEO” (I examine).
All different scientific disciplines (especially Physics and Biology) have offered indications. In answering the question on whether everyone’s birth chart will have all 12 zodiac signs in it, the answer is both yes and no. In essence, not all signs will have planets assigned to them, so you will not see all the signs in your birth chart. However, all 12 signs still have an impact on the results of your birth chart, even when no planet is assigned to it, which means that all 12 signs are still in the birth chart.

We have all been accustomed to being assigned one sign out of 12 in the zodiac signs; however, birth charts being more specific, we tend to see more than one sign in them, or even all 12. And it makes you wonder, are all 12 signs of the zodiac in our birth charts. The answer to that would be no . . . and yes.

No it’s no in everyone’s chart

When making a birth chart based on the person’s date, time, and place of birth, each planet is assigned to a zodiac sign, referring to the placement of the planet in the constellation during a person’s birth. And as such, it is possible that not all signs will be represented.

In a birth chart, there are 10 planets (Sun is considered a planet in astrology, and Pluto is also still considered a planet). That automatically means that not all 12 zodiac signs will appear in the chart. Sometimes, 2 planets might be found in 1 sign, leading to more zodiac signs that do not appear in a person’s chart.

Yes, it is still in everyone’s chart

However, it should be noted that even though not all signs have a planet assigned to them, all 12 signs still make an impact in the result of a chart. They may represent energies or qualities in the part of the chart wheel that they are found. So when we think about it, all 12 signs are still in everyone’s birth chart.

For example, a planet-less sign could be the sign on the Midheaven, IC, Descendant, or Ascendant. These are four cardinal positions that are key astrological indicators on a person’s reaction toward life. Additionally part of a birth chart’s analysis of a person is based on finding a pattern in the way the planets are spread out toward all 12 signs of the zodiac. Therefore, the 12 signs are still important when determining a chart pattern that indicates certain traits a person will have the tendency to express.

Everyone is familiar with the 12 zodiac signs, but when it comes to birth charts, it is important to note that there are more indicators to a person’s personality than these 12. And in a way, all 12 zodiac signs will always be in your birth chart.

Most people know what their astrological sign of the zodiac is. Even if you do not believe that the positions of the planets at the exact time of your birth is an indicator of your personality and can determine events that happen to your throughout your lifetime, you have almost certainly met someone who does. So just what is your astrological sign of the zodiac? In western astrology your sign of the zodiac depends on the location of planets and constellations at the moment you were born. Are horoscopes just mystic nonsense or are are you like many others who believe there something to it and do horoscopes truly predict the course of events in your life?

Astronomy and astrology are among the earliest sciences known to man The ancient Babylonians are generally acknowledged to have originated the practice and the science of astrology. There are astrological records that originated in Babylon as early as 1645 BC. The astrological charts they made based on their astronomical observations enabled them to predict the recurrence of the seasons and certain celestial events. The Sun, The Moon and only the five planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn were known to them at the time. The Babylonian astrologers believed the planets were Gods and possessed distinct powers. Mars, for example, appeared to be red and was associated with aggression and war while Venus was worshiped as the Goddess of love.

Babylonian astrology was studied by Plato, Aristotle and other important ancient Greek philosophers early in the 4th century BC.  Other cultures, such as the Egyptians, he Arabs and the Romans, developed some of the first calendars and more accurate timekeeping which helped  astrologers cast more accurate charts. This lead to astrology becoming highly regarded as an important study. The Roman names for the signs of the zodiac later spread throughout the entire world.are still used today. The modern word zodiac is derived from a Greek word meaning a circle of animals.

From the time man began to observe and track the world around him, he has also contemplated his own relationship to the earth, stars, planets and elements around him. Early astrologers knew it took twelve lunar cycles, the months of the year, for the sun to return to its original position. They then identified twelve constellations that they observed were linked to the progression of the seasons and assigned them names of certain animals and persons. In Babylonia, for example, the rainy season was found to occur when the sun was in a particular constellation which was then named Aquarius the water bearer.

Astrology may have been one way that the earliest civilizations helped define their place in the cosmos. They perceived it as being greater than themselves and not something to be conquered but to be understood. While earliest astrology was used to bring a sense of order out of apparent chaos, it was soon employed to predict weather patterns, primarily for agricultural purposes. It was eventually widened to include forecasts of natural disasters, war and other events that affect the human condition. Once success in these fields was established it was a natural evolution for astrology to be used as a means of advising  kings and emperors and in time the population at large.

In the beginning and for more than 2,000 years, astrology and astronomy were the same science. While in modern times astrology is seen as new age and not as credible as sciences like astrophysics or chemistry, at one time it was as credible a science as any other. Great astronomers like Galileo and Copernicus who helped shape our understanding of modern astronomy were also practicing astrologers. With the evolution of more quantitative sciences astrology’s position and influence have changed to reflect a different outlook.

Everyone who has read a really good astrological profile of themselves has to admit there seems to be some intriguing coincidences. Can we really pretend our knowledge of the universe is so thorough and complete that we can reject the study of astrology despite it’s long history and adherence by so many great people? Maybe Shakespeare had something there when he wrote in Hamlet, “There are more things on Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”.

The Quaternaries

Quaternaries are three in number – this means that the 12 signs of the Zodiac are divided into three categories of four signs each. They are called the Cardinals, the Fixed and the Mutable signs.

The Cardinal signs

Reflecting each projects as the self onto the world in a different way. Depending which of the four elements it’s associated with.

As Cardinal Fire (Aries) is a catalyst, a firebrand that inspires others by being totally committed to his/her own vision. Cardinal Water (Cancer) leads by the heart, and casts a palpable emotional force that pushes into new territory, but does it sideways like the crab. Cardinal Air (Libra) initiates through new ideas, and by being a balancing force among people. Cardinal Earth (Capricorn) has a formidable, grounded presence, and a natural authority from being masters of the physical plane.

Born naturally as they are the instigators, they’re ready to forge ahead with plans, and attract those that can support their efforts. Cardinal signs are leaders, and tend to be outgoing because they’re engaged with the world in a dynamic way. They’re restless to start new projects, and happiest when running the show.

The Fixed signs

Namely: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

Fixed Signs are at the height of the four seasons. Fixed Signs are associated with stamina, perseverance and strength and said to be, by nature, inert. However, they are also associated with inflexiblity. Individuals born under these four Fixed Signs of the Zodiac are thought to be determined, powerful, natural leaders, purposeful, reliable, loyal and self-confident but also occasionally stubborn and immovable, with a tendency to get stuck in ruts. They supposedly pursue their goals with dogged persistence and have a great power of concentration. According to astrologers, Fixed Signs tend to direct their energies inward rather than outward.

And last the Mutable signs

They are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

Mutable signs straddle two temperate zone seasons, encompassing an inherent duality in its symbolism. The mutable or bicorporal signs signify a duality of life experiences, and those individuals who are influenced by these signs are likely to have two main experiences, two main vocations, or two main loves that will strongly affect them for the totality of their existence.

Sun Signs

As you probably already know, as the Earth orbits the sun each year, the sun is placed in (and appears to move through) different signs of the zodiac. The particular sign of the zodiac in which the sun is located when a person is born, is known as their “sun sign” or “zodiac sign”.

According to most astrologers, which sun sign which a person falls under determines many details of that person’s character and personality. The strongest effect is supposedly in terms of determining the person’s ego, self-control and levels of willpower. Astrologers who believe this, claim that a person’s sun sign is strongly predictive of a person’s ability to both command authority over, and to influence, other people. Moreover, a person’s sun signs are is supposed to be linked to many other aspects of character such as temperament and levels of personal integrity.

Although the characteristics of each sun sign are unique, it is also true that the various sun signs can be grouped together into broad categories, the signs in each category sharing some characteristics. Astrologers do this by dividing sun signs into positive and negative polarities, and further subdividing these into groupings based around the four traditional elements (Air and Fire under positive polarity, and Earth and Water under negative polarity).

It would be wrong however to think that the sun sign completely determines a person’s personality. Although astrologers generally believe that a person’s sun sign is very important, perhaps the most important of astrological influences, it is nevertheless only one of many factors which affect personality. The positions of the various astrological planets (the actual planets of the solar system as well as the sun and moon) are also said to be important, and these also need to be taken into account when creating a horoscope or performing an astrological analysis.

One other thing to bear in mind is that the start and end dates of the sun signs, although more or less the same each year, do vary slightly. Those people who are born close to, or on, the boundary (known as the “cusp”) between two sun signs are often surprised to discover that they do not fall under the sun sign that they think they are. Additionally, people who are born on, or close to, the cusp of two sun signs, may well exhibit characteristics of both applicable sun signs.
